Huckabee Gaining Ground

The Novak Report notes today that the Huckabee surge is real.

Why are we seeing such a surge?

Huckabee seems like the underdog in a race that has seen more money go to other candidates.

I think the reason for the surge is two-fold. First, Huckabee represents what a strong conservative base wants in a candidate. Second, I think that base is saying, "Listen to us."

Often, it seems that the millions of conservative Evangelical Christians and Catholics who have voted for the pro-life Republican candidate in the past are frequently taken for granted.

Will this surge last? I don't know but I do know that the candidates, the political parties and the media need to take notice.
